JOAN RIVERS’ TRAILBLAZING LEGACY HONORED IN NEW COMIC BOOK BIOGRAPHY

TidalWave Comics proudly celebrates the life and legacy of comedy legend Joan Rivers with the release of Tribute: Joan Rivers, the latest installment in the acclaimed Tribute comic book series. Known for honoring cultural icons who left an indelible mark on the world, the series now turns its spotlight on the woman who shattered glass ceilings with her wit, candor, and fearless comedic voice.

Written by Michael Frizell, illustrated by Lucy Fidelis, and featuring a stunning cover by Pablo Martinena, Tribute: Joan Rivers is a heartfelt and visually captivating 24-page biography that follows Rivers’ meteoric rise from Greenwich Village stages to international stardom. Drawing on insights from those who knew her best, the comic delves deeply into her groundbreaking achievements, personal trials, and unapologetic truth-telling that defined a generation of comedy.

The issue was developed with the invaluable consultation of Tony Tripoli, who worked closely with Rivers on numerous television projects, including Fashion Police, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?, In Bed with Joan, and the stand-up special Joan Rivers: Don’t Start with Me. Tripoli, a longtime collaborator and friend, visited Rivers in the hospital shortly before her passing, providing rare insight into the woman behind the spotlight.

Consultant on the project, Tony Tripoli—who was both a longtime friend and collaborator of the icons—shared his insight and memories from working closely with them over the years. “What a treat to be a part of this tribute! Joan would love it, and probably take it to her plastic surgeon and say “Make me look like this bitch!”

“Joan Rivers was more than a comedian—she was a force of nature who redefined what women could say and do in entertainment,” said publisher Darren G. Davis. “This comic pays tribute to her groundbreaking contributions and larger-than-life personality in a way that fans will truly appreciate.”

Artist Lucy Fidelis brings Rivers’ expressive energy to life in detailed, emotionally resonant panels, while Martinena’s cover captures her commanding stage presence and iconic style.

“Writing Tribute: Joan Rivers felt like stepping into a whirlwind of sequins, satire, and unapologetic honesty,” said author Michael Frizell. “She pulled no punches and demanded the world keep up. This book is my attempt to honor her voice with the same ferocity she brought to every mic she touched.”

TidalWave’s Tribute series—lauded by The New York Times, Time, and Entertainment Weekly—has featured biographies of cultural giants such as Lucille Ball, David Bowie, Carrie Fisher, and Betty White. Tribute: Joan Rivers joins this distinguished line as a celebration of one of comedy’s fiercest and most enduring pioneers.

The comic is available in digital and print formats, including softcover and hardcover editions, through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ComiXology, Kindle, iTunes, Google Play, Nook, Kobo, and more.
