Few stories dominate the headlines like a royal wedding, and royal watchers and avid readers are hungry for information about the new world-famous couple who will exchange vows in front of a global audience. To commemorate the event, a special edition graphic novel version of the attention-grabbing“The Royals: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle” comic book published by TidalWave Comics, is hitting stores later this week. This lavishly illustrated 40-page hardcover graphic novel depicts the life stories of the world-famous couple.
Written by Michael Frizell with art by Pablo Martinena, Joe Phillips, and Justin Currie, the comic book provides context to two fairy tale lives and explores how a romanceflourished despite a fishbowl existence due to the ever-present paparazzi.
The book is available to order on Amazon in three different formats: A traditional, 26-page comic book version, a hardback40-page graphic novel version, and a wedding edition with a dynamic special cover by famed artist Joey Mason.
“Fans of the royal couple will love this issue for portraying Harry and Meghan as two well-rounded and grounded individuals,” said publisher Darren G. Davis. “But it also has enough pomp and spectacle to match the excitement surrounding the event.”
“I enjoyed fleshing out their backstories in this challenging format,” said writer Michael Frizell. “With just twenty-six pages to tell the lives of two fascinating people, it was imperative that I pick and choose the correct high points in their lives to tell a compelling story of two people who found each other.”
“There was considerable spectacle and buzz years a few years ago when William and Kate got married, which mirrored the fairytale wedding of Princess Diana,” Davis said. “But this wedding couldn’t have come at a better time as it offers a diversion from the constant barrage of news chronicling economic hardship and political enmity. It’s a good news story that’s larger than life.”
The comic compliments other TidalWave books that chronicle the lives of modern British royalty. “Royals: Prince William and Kate Middleton,” tells the story of their romance, “Tribute: Princess Diana” is a moving portrait of the former darling of the tabloids, and “Female Force: Queen of England,” retells the life of the matriarch of the royal family. Those books are available now.
TidalWave’s recent partnership with Ingram allows them to produce high-quality books on demand – a boon for the independent publisher. The comic book will feature a heavy-stock cover and bright, clean colors in the interior. Ingram works across the full publishing spectrum, providing assistance to some of the largest names in the business to local indie authors.
